(review) Rewind This! – a nice and nostalgic ode to good old vhs times!

All of us who grew up in the eighties and nineties remember with fondness vhs times and what was our first movie we watched on our new videorecorder. Mine were Goonies and Spaceballs, also first Indiana and Star Wars:New Hope. I still remember the day when we bought our vhs videorecorder, I went to see first Batman by Tim Burton to my hometown cinema, and when I got home, the new tv and videorecorder were there! I am also an avid collector of horror movies and recently I started to expand my virtual collection, meaning besides physical dvds and vhss on my shelves, I also collect horror thematically divided on my portable hard disks. It is not the same, but it is still lots of fun. This is what this movie is about, among other themes, collectors and the future of collecting and releasing physical versions of movies, now when almost everything is available on streaming services. Also, this movie presents all the collectors, and I am so happy to be able to hear the same themes, the same problems that my fellow collectors have throughout the world. Also, this movie teaches the history of vhs, gives insights to some really obscure and rare movies, also interviews by horror greats, for example Frank Henenlotter of Basket Case fame. This hour and a half passed really quickly with this fine documentary.

7/10 drops of blood.
