What We Left Behind: Looking Back At: Star Trek Deep Space Nine

I always considered stupid the so called war between Star Wars fans and Trekkies, fans of Star Trek movies and series. I was too young to watch original series when it was on tv, but I became a fan of Star Trek when Next Generation with captain Picard, Data and others started to broadcast on tv in former Yugoslavia. Later on I love how captain Janeway and Voyager tried to get home from Delta Quadrant in Voyager series. I am a fan of all movies, both old and new canon and still love to boldly go where no man has gone before. But, there is one that I never finished and stopped to watch and that is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999) and this two hour documentary tells the story about this series whose concept was different than the previous and later series, the story revolving around and hapening on space station called Deep Space Nine, with main character being black captain Sisko played by Avery Brooks. This documentary encompasses all of the characters, like Ferengi barman Quark, Shapeshifter chief of security Odo, warrior Major Kira, with couple of characters that were already known from TNG series, namely Worf and O´Brien. What I find most interesting is part of the movie which tells the story about the villains through series, like evil Dominion and others. Also, I love all the anecdotes from filming, around actors and life, also around screenwriters and their hardships while creating the storylines for many successfull years. I love how all the key creators of the series read the hate mail sent by fans when the series was screened and how this part of Star Trek lore was both hated and loved equally in my humble opinion. This movie documents an era and series that left its mark in hearts and minds of sci fi fans all over the world, so I honor the memory and recommend this movie if you are a fan or you are to become one.
